Dressed in a washed out denim shirt and ripped distressed jeans…
This is an analogy of life. Often our perspective of what is important in life becomes faded ,bleak and loses the true essence of its purpose. We tend to focus on the negative; blame others for our misfortune and simply accept the mediocrity. Like the torn, tattered denims, we have been hurt and disappointed whether it be in relationships, in our workplace or life in general and yet we still choose to hold on to it. One can only be liberated and truly happy when it is your goal and your choice to not let anyone or anything control or influence your happiness. There are days where I wish can go back and change what was or things I missed because I was too focused on things of no relevance in that moment. But I cannot go back and the greatest mistake is still wasting time thinking of going back. I am no philosopher or inspirational guru but on this day make it your mission to live in the now; make it your mission to be happy in every moment even if you are facing the worst possible challenges. Everyone is strong enough to smile through it all. #YOLO You only live once.
I have compiled some quotes, knowing that these words could not have been said if it were not experienced. I hope it will regain your outlook on life so that there is always colour and sunshine.
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
Ralph Aldo Emerson
The higher we are placed, the more humbly we should walk.
Marcus Tullius Cicero
Take a step back, evaluate what is important and enjoy life.
Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.
Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.
Sanity and happiness are an impossible combination.
The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.
Freedom would be not to choose between black and white but to abjure such prescribed choices.
Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow.
The greatest step towards a life of simplicity is to learn to let go.
If you’re reading this…
Congratulations, you’re alive.
If that’s not something to smile about,
then I don’t know what is.
